New Beginnings. "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth ... And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good" (Genesis 1:1,31). This is the time of the year when many make resolutions of new behavior for the coming year. We, as true believers, have already made in the past the only resolution needed - that we have given all we are to Jesus and promised to do His will from that time forward. Prayer and study of the Word while walking with Him daily will enable one to keep that resolution. But man, being imperfect, often strays from his own goals of following the Lord. Knowing this, the Lord has provided a path of forgiveness in repentance and correction of our ways. He is faithful in all His promises to extend grace and forgiveness to the believer who strays and then truly repents. True repentance does not involve just true regret - it involves a change in ways of thinking and actions and obedience to the Lord's will. God created a new heart in you when you were saved and the Holy Spirit took up residence in your life. When He looks at you, will He say, "Behold, it was (is) very good."? There is coming a time when we will come to the home He has prepared in heaven which occurs after the millennium and final judgment. The Lord says in Revelation 21:5, "Behold, I make all things new." Notice that He did not say "some," He said "all;" He didn't say "better" or "improved," He said "new." Jesus said in John 14:2 that "I go to prepare a place for you." That place is described in Revelation Chapters 21-22 - read all of it today. There will be a new heaven, a new earth (21:1), new peoples (21:8), a new Jerusalem (21:9-21), a new temple (the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb (21:22), no more sun or moon but the "glory of God ... and the Lamb is the light thereof (21:23-27)", and a new paradise and its river of the water of life. Seven things are listed. Our Lord has prepared this for you and me as part of the Bride of Christ. If you have never believed in the Lord, trusted Him with all your being and received the Holy Spirit, do it today. We are all going to live eternally. The question is: Where will you spend eternity - in the heaven prepared for all true believers or the hell prepared for the devil and his angels which is cast into the lake of fire? Jesus is coming back for His bride, the Church. Won't you repent today, go to Jesus for forgiveness, have your sins forgiven, and spend eternity in the paradise prepared for believers. The Bible tells us "whosoever will" - anyone and everyone - may come and "take of the water of life freely" (Rev.22:17). The Spirit is calling you today. Begin a new life in the new year. Come to Jesus in belief and repentance, give your life to Him, and live in eternal bliss in eternity with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, even our Lord Jesus Christ.
Beets and good advice. "Good" is a relative word depending on its context, source, or the personal likes or dislikes of an individual. Ask a nutritionist if beets are "good" and you will probably receive an affirmative answer. Try asking our Pastor (or his wife) about beets, and you will receive a different and extremely negative answer. There is no shortage of "good advice" on any subject you may choose. But what is "good" advice for true born-again believers? First Corinthians 2:16 tells us, "But we have the mind of Christ." This means that Christians possess His understanding, that is, His thoughts, opinions, judgments, plans, and so on. How do we know all of this? By reading the Words of God, written for us by inspired men of old, and by prayer for guidance from the Holy Spirit who causes the Christian to understand truth. For example, Psalm 119 is rich in "good" advice. "With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee" (verses 10-11). "I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. I will delight myself in thy statues: I will not forget thy word" (verses 15-16). "Open my eyes that I might behold wondrous things out of thy law" (verse 18). "Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors" (verse 24). "Let my heart be sound in thy statues; that I be not ashamed" (verse 80). "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path" (verse 105). And so, I repeat my own and others' urgings that every Christian should set aside a time for daily Bible reading and prayer. Don't just read it, study it - commit it to memory. We are to live our lives in accordance with our Lord's commandments (John 14:15). Only by absorbing His words can we live in His love (John 15:10). Our every act and thought, the very essence of our being should be in accordance with the principals and precepts taught in the Holy Bible. "Good" advice is only found in truth, the truth of God. Anything in conflict with the Scripture is of the Devil and his lying demons and must not be used for our guidance. After repentance and the acceptance of Jesus as your Lord comes baptism. From that time forward, we are being "sanctified," being separated from the world and set apart for God's service, a concept taught throughout the Bible, until the time we are called home. When you purchase a new "gadget," you have to read the instruction book to get the best out of the gadget. As Christians, we should not only read but eagerly explore and come to an understanding through the leading of the Holy Spirit of just what it is that God considers "good". Remember, God said in Genesis 1:31: "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." Will He be able to say that about us?

Please bring three dozen cookies and a Christmas ornament to exchange with others that evening. Cissy has placed maps in the foyer.
Christmas Party. 2011 Adult Christmas Party. Plans are now underway for the 2011 Adult Christmas Party. We will meet on Saturday, December 17th at 5:00 PM in the Family Life Center. This is a correction from the original start time of 6:00 PM. It is our hope to have every family represented at the Christmas Party this year as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Menu this year is BBQ beef, chicken, and sausage, beans, potato salad, Cole slaw, bread and tea. Cost will be $11 per plate. We want everyone to come!! If cost is a problem, see Judy or Bro. Bobby in confidence and it will be made sure that you are a part of the party as well. This is a time of love and giving, and we don’t want anyone to be left out. Advise Judy by December 14th (Wednesday) if you plan to attend. This is a correction from the original date of December 11th (Sunday). ALL are invited: friends, neighbors single or couples - but this an adult only party. Ladies are asked to bring your favorite dessert to share. Babysitting will be available, if needed. Please advise Judy, and please bring a sack lunch and drink for your child. We will have the infamous "white elephant" gift exchange. Ladies bring a gift marked for a lady, and men bring one marked for a man. The gift can be a "gag" gift, or new or old, priced whatever you desire. Remember, it is all in fun, the kind Christians have! See Judy if you wish to decorate a table for the party.
What do you believe? Mary believed the Lord. Joesph believed the Lord. Zacharias was skeptical of the Lord. Elizabeth showed anxiety of the Lord. Simeon believed he would see the Lord. Anna gave thanks to the Lord, believing Him. The Magi believed Him to be the Lord. Royalty visited and adored the Lord. And so a child was born of the virgin, destined to be crucified on a cross, to arise again for all the sins of men. Do you believe this happened? Have you believed in Him? He is coming again . . . for all true believers! Is He coming for you??? Or are you unconvinced and skeptical? Believe and trust Jesus today!
The Christmas Season. In Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah tells us that "the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." The term "a virgin" is better interpreted "the virgin." The Hebrew definite article ha indicates that a definite woman was in view. The unique Hebrew word almah is the most precise term the prophet could have used to indicate the woman was indeed a virgin. This prophecy must refer to the virgin birth of Jesus Christ since the virgin is pregnant and still a virgin! "Immanuel" is a title describing the deity of the person of the Son of God rather than a name He actually used. It implies that God will come to live among His own people, which He actually did in the person of Christ. The angel instructed Joseph "to call his name JESUS:" and what is such a sweet promise to all true believers, continued "for he shall save his people from their sins" (Matt.1:21). Jesus taught us to beware of the evil that is in the world. Too many men today are walking in the ways of the lying prince of this world who came "to steal and to kill and to destroy" (John 10:10). A time set aside for celebrating the birth of the One who came "that they might have life, and they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10) has been subverted largely into a time of drunkenness, partying, and the enormous pursuit of "mammon" (riches, described in Nelson's Bible Dictionary as "wealth that is used in opposition to God"). Luke 16:13 tells us, "No servant can serve two masters: ... Ye cannot serve God and mammon." God is love. We are to love and praise Him who sent us His Son that we might have a way - the only way - to be forgiven of all our sins and spend eternity with Him. This is a time to love all others and to tell them the true meaning of the season is Jesus. Oh, what a glorious time that we can show others His love through our own lives. Celebrate the true meaning of Christmas and glorify the King. Oralia and I greet you in the sweet name of Jesus, who came not "to condemn the world, but that world through him might be saved" (John 3:17).
Pray in the new year. New Year of 2012. Brother Bobby has announced that we will meet at 9 pm on New Year's Eve, Dec.31st in our sanctuary to pray in the New Year. On Sunday morning, Jan. 1, 2012, we will only meet for our regular worship service at 10:45 am in the sanctuary. There will be NO Sunday School or evening service on Sunday, Jan. 1st.
We welcome you to this service on Christmas morning, the day we celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus is the reason - the only reason - for this season. Scripture gives us assurance in Luke 2:10-11 as it spoke to the frightened shepherds: Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

PLEASE do not use an X - please write what you plan to bring so that Judy and her helpers may assure a good variety is available. Invite your friends and neighbors to church. They don't have to bring anything, but are most welcome to join us.
In Case You Are Looking. When anyone attempts to tell you they can't find the word "rapture" in the English Bible, that they have given up looking, that it's not even in the concordance, they are perfectly correct. If you check, you will find the word is harpazo in the Greek. It can be found in the Greek lexicon in the Bible. It means "caught up" or "snatched away." The concept is all through the Bible: Enoch, Elijah, Paul, Phillip, and John are all examples. Don't let this disturb you. Other words Christians use are also not in the Bible, but the concept is. It is useless to look for the word "Sunday," but the early church definitely worshipped on the first day of the week to commemorate the resurrection of our Lord. You might jog their memory by showing them that the word "trinity" is not to be found either, but the Triune God is there. God clearly teaches "concepts" in the scripture whether the words appear or not. Pray and study your Bible daily. Know and be familiar with God's message that He has sent to enlighten and encourage us.
Who Is the Antichrist? Too many Christians waste their time trying to identify exactly "who" the antichrist is. Speculation has named many candidates: Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Reagan, Gorbachev, Bill Clinton, George Bush, and even Obama. But what does the Bible say? Scripture calls the antichrist the beast (Rev 13:1), man of sin (2 Thess 2:3), wicked one (2 Thess 2:8), abomination (Matt 24:15), little horn (Dan 7:8), fierce king (Dan 8:23), prince that shall come (Dan 9:26), vile (despicable) person (Dan 11:21), and strong-willed king (Dan 11:36). He is only called antichrist in 1 John 2:18, 22; 4:23; and 2 John 1:7. The "spirit of antichrist" is already at work in the world. It is the anti-Christian spirit that opposes everything that is true about Jesus Christ (1 John 4:3). Satan himself is the real power behind the Antichrist. If we are alive when the antichrist comes, we have been left behind. It is impossible for him to come until after the rapture when the restrainer, the Holy Spirit, embodied in the church, is removed to heaven. Christians, live with your eyes on the skies, watching for the Lord to come, and your feet on the ground working for Him. Dr. Ed Hindson says: "The balance of expectation (that Jesus could come at any moment) and participation (serving Him faithfully until He comes) is what the Christian life is all about." Christians have other things to be about; so why should we be concerned who the antichrist is? After all, he is Satan's man occupying our time, time that should be spent for our Lord Jesus.
A Thought for Thanksgiving. Ephesians 5:18-21 says, "18 AND BE NOT DRUNK WITH WINE, WHEREIN IS EXCESS; BUT BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT; 19 SPEAKING TO YOURSELVES IN PSALMS AND HYMNS AND SPIRITUAL SONGS, SINGING AND MAKING MELODY IN YOUR HEART TO THE LORD; 20 GIVING THANKS ALWAYS FOR ALL THINGS UNTO GOD AND THE FATHER IN THE NAME OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST; 21 SUBMITTING YOURSELVES ONE TO ANOTHER IN THE FEAR OF GOD." KJV. The Lord's will is that Christians be filled with the spirit (v.18). Four things result: they speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs (v.19); there is singing and making of melody, of individual song and praise to the Lord (v.19); there is giving thanks always (v.20) - the Spirit enables the Christian to be grateful for all things divinely allowed to enter his life, because they will be used for good; there is mutual submission, showing respect for the wishes of another, as long as that to which the believer submits is in fear (respect) of God (v.20), that is, with what pleases Him. Live with thankfulness in your heart for all He brings into your life. Whether you can comprehend it or not, nothing comes into the life of the believer unless our Lord permits it. Hallelujah to Him and honor and glory and praise to the Lamb of God who died that we might be called children of God, enjoying the blessings of this world and the world to come.
Our King is coming --- Is he coming for YOU???

When the King Comes. Some say that the word "rapture" is not in the Bible. They are absolutely correct. It isn't. The word in the Greek is harpazo and is in the Greek lexicon. Their implication that there will be no rapture is completely false. Jesus Himself said in John 14:2-3, "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go, I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there you may be also." This is the first hint of the rapture. Jesus Himself says He is coming again to receive us to Himself, to be with Him throughout eternity. We need have no doubt. There are 300 prophecies in scripture of the Second Coming of Jesus. There are over 100 prophecies of His First Coming, all of which were literally fulfilled. We can expect the prophecies of the 2nd Coming to be literally fulfilled: the King will come in the air and we SHALL meet Him there. We go the judgment seat of Christ. We go to the marriage of the Lamb. The Church is His bride. Then, in the Triumphal Return, The King of Kings and Lord of Lords returns to earth followed by His bride, the Church, dressed in white linen, fine and clean - received at the marriage. Yes, we are "the armies which were in heaven and will be with Him when out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations" and win the Battle of Armageddon. We shall live with Him in eternity. (See Revelation 19:11-21).
Fall festival at NHCS. New Hope Baptist Church Fall Festival. Will be held on Monday night, October 31st, @ 6:30-8 pm. This is a correction from the original start time of 6 pm. This will provide an alternate, Christian-led activity to the secular activities of the world that night. The children are encouraged to wear costumes appropriate for a church (no devil, Satan, etc. please). We will have many games at the stations to entertain the kids and candy to hand out. We will need donation of money for candy. Mark your envelopes or checks for this activity please. The children have a good time each year. Plan on bringing them all.
Christians Are Special to God. As true born-again believers, Peter tells us in 1 Peter 2:9 that we "are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people (His own special people)," and that He has "called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: which in times past were not a people, but now are the people of God: which had not attained mercy, but now have attained mercy." God's Word tells us that we are strangers and aliens in this world. If this life is all there is, we are without hope, but God has better things promised to us - a hope that will not fail. When our body dies, it goes in the ground, but our spirit goes to be with God (2 Corinthians 5:8). At that great "gittin'-up" day better known as the Rapture, our spirit and body will be reunited and we go to partake in judgment for awards and the Wedding of the Lamb. We then come back with Jesus at Armageddon to rule and reign with Christ in the millennium here on earth. Afterward, we go to the place prepared by Jesus for you and me (John 14:2) in heaven, and so we will be with Him for eternity. 1st Thessalonians 4:18 says: "Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
Whose servant are you? As true Christians, we can know that our "old body" has been rendered powerless and can no longer be enslaved to sin. We have been "buried with him by baptism into death" and raised that we "should walk in newness of life" (Romans 6:4). Paul asks "what fruit" we had in things of which we are now ashamed. When we were in sin, we were free from righteousness. He says that "the end of those things is death" (verse 6:21). But now being made free from sin, we are slaves to Jesus Christ; we have fruits of righteousness, whose end is eternal life. Every person who has been justified by God will surely give evidence of that by the holiness in his or her life. We are paid wages for what we do, what we are in this life: if we serve sin, death is its wage; if we serve the Lord, eternal life results, not as something we have earned, but as "a gift of God" (verse 23) through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Walking with God. This is a discipleship class. Currently the men are meeting in NHCS and the women are meeting in the sanctuary. It will continue through an undetermined date.
Men's Bar-B-Que Cook-off will be rescheduled. Due to local fire conditions and other factors, the Annual Men’s Bar-B-Que is to be held at a later date. You will be advised when it is going to be held. Previous entry: A battle for awards and "prestige" will occur during the Annual Men's Bar-B-Que Cook-off to be held on Friday night and Saturday September 23rd-24th this year. You men should make your plans now, organize teams, and plot your strategies. I hear rumors that some awards are considered a cinch by some of the team captains. We have fun at this men's fundraiser, the proceeds of which are used to do various projects around the church. Each team usually consists of 4-5 men, and each team gives a $25 entry fee to Ron Wade, who leads in putting on this event. Ron is finalizing plans for this year's event, and they will be announced this week. We will feed the church on Saturday. Invite your friends to come enjoy a good Bar-b-Que meal and great fellowship. SIGN UP TODAY IN FOYER.
If a Christian desires the will of God in his or her life, then that Christian must pray and study God's Word diligently and systematically while interpreting that Word according to its proper meaning.

Philippians 2:1-8. All Christians ought to be characterized by an attitude of humility. Paul tells us that we are to have the same mind as "also was in Christ Jesus." This is described in verse 2c-4. Verse 3 tells us that "in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves." Christ literally obscured His glory and took on Himself the human nature of man, yet remained sinless, making of "himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant." "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross" (V.8). As true Christians we should be ready to do for others whatever may be necessary, even as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Supreme God humbled Himself from all His glory and died for us that we might have a way into heaven. Remember, we are exhorted to esteem others better than our self and not the reverse as taught by the lying devil. This is what we are to do for Him who loves us so.
You are complete in Jesus. Paul urges the Colossian Christians to continue to look to Jesus as they received Him, for salvation, and to continue in submission to His authority. He warns them not to be carried away from the truth by philosophy (false teachings) and vain deceit as is the way of the world, not the Way (Jesus) which they had been taught. Philosophy is not bad in itself, and if God-centered, can be helpful to the Christian. If one is to go deeper with Christ, it is to be rooted . . . in the faith (v. 7), that which the Colossians were originally taught when they received Christ. Rudiments of the world is talking about the false worldly heresies being taught, which in part required one to combine faith in Christ with secret knowledge and other practices such as circumcision, eating and drinking, and observance of religious festivals. The declaration that in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead directly refutes this false Gnostic teaching. Christians have been filled by Jesus Christ with all the spiritual blessings they need and are complete in him, lacking nothing for salvation. Read verses 2:10-15 for five of these blessings. Christ is sufficient for all our needs. Jesus said I am the Way, the Truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father, but by me (John 14:6). There is nothing we can do of our own. Christ is all we need. Do you have a relationship with Jesus, or are you counting on your own good works? The "Way" is in Him, through Him, and by Him; in fact, it is Him. We are to be abounding therein with thanksgiving (v. 7).

The Master's Commission. Jesus is about to ascend back to the right hand of the Father in heaven, but instead of sending the disciples back to the house of Israel, they are instructed to wait at Jerusalem until they receive power and the Holy Ghost (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:1-11). Jesus gave them what has come to be called "The Great Commission" (see front of bulletin - All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the 'Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:18-20). Basically, every born-again, Holy Spirit-filled Christian (The True Church) is to do three things: GO and teach all nations, BAPTIZING them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, TEACHING them to observe all things which he has commanded. We are not to do it in our power, but in His. This is the mission in the age of grace - first to go and bring "whosoever will" in; then to baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, symbolizing their death and burial with Christ and rebirth to a new life; and finally, being entrusted and commanded to teach them all things the Master has commanded us. This is more than a command, more than an order - it is a proclamation of victory as our triumphant, living Lord sends all Christians into the world with His message of the Gospel - that He and He alone is a living God through whom "whosoever will" may find peace with the Father. He has gone to prepare a place for Christians (John 14:3) to be with Him forever. He is coming back for you and me and "to take care of business" - final defeat of the forces of evil and changing His world to a place of peace and perfection for all eternity. Are you doing the Lord's business, living as He would have you live, while you continue to. GO, AND BAPTIZE, AND TEACH?
Faith. God's Word teaches us in Hebrews 11:6 that "... without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." If we do not believe every word the Scripture has revealed to us, we find ourselves in the position of doubting God and His Word. Our one and only path to the Father and heaven is faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. The third chapter of Romans shows us that we "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (verse 23). The Bible frequently speaks of the glory of God: appearing as the pillar of the cloud leading Israel (Exodus 16:7-10); at the tabernacle of the congregation at Kadesh (Numbers 14:10); the temple of Solomon (1 Kings 8:11); the Mount of Olives at Jerusalem (Ezekiel 11:23); etcetera. The glory God is the person of Jesus Christ. The standard of God's holiness is not the Old Testament law but the person of Jesus Christ. Justification is an act of God by which our legal standing in heaven is changed and we are declared righteous. When we repent and express saving faith, actual and genuine belief in Jesus, God adds the righteousness and perfection of Christ to our record. Paul observes in Romans 3:24 three things about the righteousness of God which brings justification. 1. The righteous man is justified freely. He does not have to satisfy any prior conditions nor is it the results of any deeds or work performed. It is simply given freely and without merit on the part of the individual. 2. He is justified by his grace. You cannot have both merit and grace. Salvation is solely through the grace of our God resulting from our faith in Him. 3. Justification comes through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ. That came only at a great price, the shedding of the precious blood of our Lord Christ (Matthew 20:28; 1 Corinthians 6:20; 1 Peter 1:18-19). Paul goes on to ask in verse 27, "Where is boasting then? It is excluded ... by the law of faith." Jesus did not void the law through faith; He fulfilled it (verse 31). God sees an individual as justified when the righteousness of Christ is placed upon on us by the grace of God. This is done freely and without cause through our reception of it by faith. Hebrews 11 tells us, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (verse 1). Without faith, we have no substance, no hope, no understanding of - - - well, real understanding of anything but this world. Through faith, I know that God framed the world, Jesus died for my sins, that He has gone to prepare a place for me, and that He will return for me and all other true believers to take us to be with Him forever. I know this why - because God has given us His inerrant, inspired Word that we may have assurance - know for sure His truths, has given us salvation, and has given us the Holy Spirit to Guide us as we sojourn and watch and wait for Him.
Walking with God. This is a discipleship class. Currently the men are meeting in NHCS and the women are meeting in the sanctuary. It will continue through an undetermined date.
We cannot be separated from God. Our scripture shows the impossibility of getting beyond the reach of God's loving care. Nothing ever created or to be created can separate us from God's love, because it is set forth in a person who is God Himself, Jesus Christ, our savior. He is the One who intercedes for us with the Father. We are indwelt with the Holy Spirit at redemption, who keeps us and guides us in all things. God desires that sinners be redeemed. He is infinitely more powerful than anything or anybody. His purpose for us cannot be frustrated by anyone or anything. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). We are safe in His arms.
Results of justification. Our verses on the front page (Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-2) show us that we have been justified through grace by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. This was all God's doing and none of ours. Because of our faith given us by God, we are no longer enemies of God (5:10) and have been reconciled to Him (2 Corinthians 5:18). Good things have happened as a result: "we have access into this faith wherein we stand" (5:2). By Jesus Christ we gain admittance and acceptance before the Father. We are able to come directly into the presence of God, where Jesus sits on the right hand. Not only is He our redeemer, He is our advocate with the Father. "Wherein we stand" answers the Psalmist's question in Psalm 130:3: "If thou . . . should mark iniquities, O Lord, who should stand." We can know that we can "rejoice in hope of the glory of God" (5:2) because we have unqualified certainty of deliverance. In verses 3-5 we find that we can glory in tribulations which produce patience (perseverance), and experience (character), and hope. "And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given to us" (5:5).

Parables of Jesus. New Sunday afternoon Bible study. David Coffman will begin teaching 2011-05-01 Sunday 4:30pm.
Christ is over all. "If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, And seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
Are we preventing the Lord from hearing our prayers? Last week I quoted 2 Chronicles 7:14 which says that "If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, And seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." We belong to an omniscient God who sees, hears, and knows all things. But as we see, He requires us to approach His Throne of Grace in a humble, contrite manner of repentance shown by an actual turning away from the things that displease Him. He has warned us in His Word of certain specific hindrances to His hearing our prayers. Psalm 66:18 tells us: "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." We must truly and completely repent of every Sin before approaching Him. Hypocrisy (or insincerity or deceit) is addressed by James 5:16: " The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." Wrong motives: James 4:3 says, "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts." Disobedience (or noncompliance): Proverbs 28:9 warns that "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination." Lack of Faith: James 1:7 Tells us we must believe He will answer: "But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." God in 1 Peter 3:7 says that how we handle our Marital Problems affects our prayers to Him: "Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered." As Chronicles tells us, humble ourselves, seek His face, and He will hear and forgive and heal! It is a matter of a sincerely broken, loving, pure heart devoted sincerely to serving Him.

The Secret of Confident Living. Job was a man who probably lived in the time of Abraham and Isaac. He had vast possessions, wealth, and family. Satan approached God and obtained permission to afflict Job, a man that God described as "...none like him in the earth, a perfect and upright man, one that feareth God and escheweth (shuns) evil" (Job 1:8). Satan tells God to take "all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face" (1:11). In verse 12 God gives Satan permission power over all that Job had, but he couldn't touch his body. God permits but does not order Satan to afflict Job. God is always in control of Satan's power, which is controlled at all times by the unlimited power of God. Satan used human agency (Sabeans and Chaldeans) and natural resources (fire and wind) to take Job's family and all of his resources - yet Job worshipped God (1:20-21) and "In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly" (1:22). God now permits Satan to afflict Job with boils, but not take his life. Although his wife advises him to "curse God and die" (2:9), "In this did not Job sin with his lips" (2:10). God's Word says that Job retained his integrity, not turning away from God. Job questioned himself, even ruing the day he was born. Three of his friends came, suggesting to him he had some unconfessed sin in his life he hadn't dealt with. Job is adamant in denying this. He doesn't understand why this is happening, and they have quite an argument. This is a story regarding the conflict of good and evil and why God sometimes consents for bad things to happen to good people, while He continues to maintain His purpose in their lives. In the end of the story God reprimands Job for becoming self-righteous, and Job replies and repents in Chapter 42. Then "the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before" (42:10). When we came into this world, we had nothing and we weren't anybody. God has given us everything we are blessed with. Are we able to trust the Lord under our present or future circumstance or whatever the situation? He brought us this far and will keep us to the end. Nothing is able to separate us from His love" (Romans 8:35-39). We see here Job's assurance of the Resurrection. Can you say with Him, "I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God" (19:25-26)? No matter what your circumstances, if believers persevere and are confident in Him in every situation, God will fulfill His promises. Be careful not to sin or charge God foolishly.

Why Should We Forgive Others? Has someone ever done something which caused you to develop a spirit of bitterness, a bitter root or a reproach in your heart toward them? In the brief space available here, I can only touch on the barest of highlights. First, only you can choose to have bitterness - no one can "make" you be bitter. What is said or done may be wrong or hurtful, but the individual chooses to let the heart be bitter over any incident, even if you are not in the wrong. As long as you live, you may be offended, hurt, or disappointed. Bitterness can destroy families, marriages, and lives. The one being hurt is not the "other person," but the one with the bitterness, and it can even destroy a church if allowed to flourish in the heart. Our Lord Jesus taught that forgiveness is given to us as one of the most powerful means of "letting your light so shine" to demonstrate the Lord Jesus' character. Remember, He died that we might be forgiven of our sins and be reconciled to Him. Dr. Ed Hinson said, "It can melt the hardest heart and clear the most clouded conscience. When used properly, forgiveness paves the way for reconciliation . . . is the key to God's abundant blessings and unlocks the soul to the work of the Holy Spirit." Forgive others if you want peace of heart, expect forgiveness, and want to serve Him.
The True Church. The true church is not a building nor is it a group of beings who only have knowledge of God. The true church is made up of Gentiles and Jews who genuinely know Christ as their Savior and have their sins forgiven. Many are saying today that we are in the last days. God's Word is clear that apostasy will be the principal characteristic seen just before the rapture of Christ's bride, the church. As the Church Age draws to a close the "professing" church will be full of denial about truth and godly living. Men - not true believers - will reject, renounce, and attempt to repudiate:
God (2 Timothy 3:4-5)
Sound Doctrine (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
Christ (1 John 2:18; 4:3)
Christian Liberty (1 Timothy 4:3-4)
Christ's return (2 Peter 3:3-4)
Morals (2 Timothy 3:1-8, 13; Jude 18)
The Faith (1 Timothy 4:1-2, Jude 3)
Authority (2 Timothy 3:4)
We see many of the world population today living in this apostasy as the time draws near for even greater apostasy and deception led by the Antichrist during the Tribulation Period. But the true church continues to labor to bring the lost to a saving knowledge of the Christ, even as professing "Christendom" with all its wheat and tares continues to cause mischief. The next great event for the true church is the rapture of the church: Christ comes in the air for his bride, the church (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17), He takes us home and after a series of events, to our home in the New Jerusalem and the New Heaven as He promised. And so we will ever be with Him (Revelation 21-22). We are told in 1 Thessalonians 4:18: "Wherefore comfort one another with these words." He is coming for all (he'll not miss even one) true believers. Is He coming for you? Do you know that you know, for sure? If not, ask Brother Bobby or any of the men in the church and let us tell you about Him!

Why can't you pray? Many believers maintain that they can't pray. They need to pray about that - - - and start talking to the Father every day. It's been said that "I don't know what to pray for," or "I'm too embarrassed to pray, especially out loud." A true believer believes every word in the Bible. Paul says in Romans 1:16: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ." Are you afraid someone will "make fun" of you? Luke 11:9 ff tells believers to "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be given unto you. For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." Why don't you believe these simple promises? Set aside time everyday for prayer and study of God's Word. It will be a blessing that the Lord bestows on you. There is no set order or things to be prayed for. You are not praying to be "to be seen of men" (Matthew 6:6), and it is not necessary to be repetitious. When we pray, we must always believe that our prayers will be answered - pray in faith. We should confess our sins to Him who knoweth our heart, not another human. God will forgive our unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). In worshipping Him, we show our respect and reverence for the one who is of the highest worth, God. Thanksgiving and our requests are certainly an appropriate part of prayer. Pray for others in the love of Jesus. What were the rules for talking to your earthly father? I had none but could approach him without fear knowing I would receive his fullest attention. The regularity of prayer and study will build you spiritually and enable you to be a greater blessing to others and a more effective vessel for your Heavenly Father's (God's) use in building His kingdom. Why can't you pray? If you're a believer, God says you can - and must - pray. He wants to hear from you! If you don't believe, right now is the time to repent and be saved through faith in Jesus Christ.
VBS meeting 1. Vacation Bible School Volunteers. Please meet with Judy for just for a few minutes today. Need to see you even if you can only help decorate.
Choice Not Chance. We do not choose to be born into the world nor do we choose to be born as a sinner. Once here, we choose to do everything we do. We cannot be "made" to do anything we do not desire to do. This is important as we consider our ultimate - and eternal - destiny. We are born "enemies" of God. Until we recognize that fact, repent and through faith choose to surrender our life to the Lord, we cannot "have peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ" and "have access by faith into this grace wherein we now stand, and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God" (Romans 5:1-2). By choosing to do nothing, we are actually choosing eternal separation from God, a life in hell in the burning lake of fire. God' Word invites any and all and every one of us saying in Revelation 22:17, "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely." Too many choose to decide wrongly, saying, "There is no God," or "There is no hell," or denying the truths of God's Word, "I don't need all that, since I'm a pretty good person," or deciding that by enough "right" living they can work their way to peace with our Lord. God's Word is very clear about the simple, yet narrow, way to peace with God. As Paul cried out to the jailer in Acts 16:31, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Peter declares in Acts 4:12, "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Make a heart-felt choice today, repent, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ if you have never done so. You will be in a new relationship with Jesus, once His enemy, now His friend (Romans 5:10). You will now posses and have access to "this grace wherein we now stand and rejoice in hope . . ." (vs. 2). It is your choice! "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve . . . but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD" (Joshua 24:15). God cared enough to send the very best, "his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). We are all going to have eternal life - who do you want to spend eternity with: Satan who came "to steal . . . kill . . . and destroy," in the torment of hell or Jesus, our Lord who came that we might "have life, and that . . . more abundantly" (John 10:10). Again, it is still your choice.
God Doesn't Change. James 1:17-18 shows that God is the creator of all of the heavenly bodies. He is their Father or creator, but unlike them, He has no variableness (variation). He does not change. Because of seasons, rotation, etc, the sun and moon cast varying shadows and have different relation to earth and the other planets. God is timeless, without even the slightest change, neither shadow of turning. Not only are God's gifts good (useful and practical), they are perfect, (lacking absolutely nothing in them). He sends them, not intended to be a temptation or for evil, but for our blessing - God is only good and wants to shower us with generous gifts - they are sent to us not for evil but for our blessing. Verse 13 implies that God may sometimes tempt man to evil, but although God may try the saints (test them), He never does so with the evil intent to tempt them. Recall how He asked Phillip about where to buy bread to feed "a great multitude" (John 6:1-6), Jesus said, "and this he said to prove him; for he knew what he would do." We see in Of his own will he begat us His love for true believers, the word of truth being the proclamation of the gospel, speaking of regeneration. All true believers - the redeemed of all ages - are God's firstfruits in that they are the first step in His redemption of all creation. Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." He is immutable, the diving attribute of being unchangeable, declaring in Exodus 3:14, "I AM THAT I AM." And we find in Malachi 3:6, "For I am the LORD, I change not." And what does this mean to us as believers. The One who created everything is our Lord and Master. We serve Him because we love Him and know that His promises are true and that they never change. His Holy Word is true from "In the beginning" to "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen," without error, and containing all we need to live that spirit-filled life He has given us. We are being sanctified by Him to the ultimate glory of the Father. We have been buried with Him and risen to newness of life. That new life is a change in everything we were or are - we have been changed because He never changes, and we are to be like Him. His promises don't change and He doesn't change. Do you believe? Have you changed??
Are Old Testament Laws Pertinent To Us Today? God's Word tells us in 2 Timothy 3:16-17: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteous: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished until all good works." Do you appreciate the significance of the fact that the Bible is the message of the living God Himself? not one word of the Scripture can be doubted, disregarded, or ignored. Although we are not required to be under the law, Christ taught and displayed in His life all of the principles taught in the law saying "Think not that I am come to destroy the law , or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled" (Matthew 5:17-18). The Old Testament is relevant today as our guide "for doctrine . . . reproof, . . . correction . . . and instruction in righteousness . . . that" believers "may be perfect (righteous)" lacking nothing to do good works to the glory of God, providing principles for us to live by. As we approach The Lord, it does not take the blood of animals to make our redemption possible. It is the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross that enables us to enter into reconciliation with God, to have redemption once and for all, to enter the Holy of Holies with God Himself, and become a temple where the Spirit indwells us, leading, guiding and protecting us for the remainder of our lives - we become the tabernacle of God, a temple of the Holy Spirit. All of these ideas have their roots in the Old Testament, which foreshadows all of the plans of a loving God for those who will believe Him. Knowledge of the "Bible, of God's revelation to us, will not provide our redemption. Only an intimate relationship with Jesus can provide the justification we require for all our sins if we are to spend eternity with Him. The entire Word of God teaches us that we must repent, turn to Jesus, and accept Him as our master if we are to gain justification that results in being accepted by the Lord. Then, we should be found living our lives here on earth because of a heart-felt love and devotion to Christ, rather than a legalistic performance of duties required by written law. 1 Peter 2:9-10 says: "But ye are a chosen generation a royal priesthood, and holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God." (2 Peter 2:9-10). "All scripture" means all God has given: study and live His entire Word!

As we observe Palm Sunday, the day of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, let us recall the day we entered into a relationship with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. What a triumph He gave to you and me on the day we believed, whatever day it may have been. He enrered into Jerusalem to die, be buried, and rise again, taking on our sins, that we might through Him have eternal life with Him. If you haven't surrendered your life to Him, today is the day to repent for forgiveness and be saved through belief, and find salvation in Him. "Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever." PSALMS 118:28-29.

Study of Colossians Begins. Colossians 1:3-6 - "We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints, 5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; 6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth" King James Version. Brother Bobby preached our first lesson of Colossians on Wednesday night. God will bless you if you are able to attend as the study continues each Sunday and Wednesday night. Giving thanks to God (not man) is an important theme in Colossians. The Colossians had a great faith in Christ Jesus and love . . . to all the saints. These three characteristics, faith, love, and hope which is laid up for you in heaven, are healthy characteristics of Christ-centered fellowship. Hope is not wishful thinking but a firm assurance which comes from the content of hope, the word of truth of the gospel. The compelling truth of the gospel (hope) places one's outlook on the present, which encourages faith and love. Paul declares that it bringeth forth fruit . . . since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth.
Dinner on the grounds after morning church. There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer. Plan now to fellowship with all the other members.
John Reveals Certain Christian Certainties. 1 John 5:18-20: "We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ." John ends his first epistle with three certainties, affirming truths that we know. The child of God does not practice sin or keep on sinning, his life is not characterized by sin, but he might occasionally commit an isolated sin. A true believer guards himself against sin, so that wicked one toucheth him not. We know that we are of God, that the true believer does not belong to the world, and that the whole world lieth in wickedness (or in the grasp of the wicked one). We know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding . . . to know and exist in him that is true. The Greek verbs are in the perfect tense, we know (for sure!) that we are of God . . . we know (for sure!) that the Son of God has come (for sure!), and hath given us an understanding (for sure!). We can be absolutely sure as true believers, as possessing the new nature and the Holy Spirit, that we are safe in Jesus from the wages of sin and have eternal life. We can be sure that we are fortified against the devil and his wicked attempts to deceive us. And we can be sure that we are on the Lord's side and live for Him and not the wicked ways of this world. We know that Jesus, the only and true Son of God, came and died for our sins is the only way into eternal life and heaven.

Are you a doer? Read James 1:22, 26-27. Pure religion is outwardly characterized by pure, sincere acts of compassion, kindness, and personal purity, while keeping one's self uncontaminated by the world. "Religion" refers to the outward acts of religion: giving to the needy, fasting, public acts of praying, and worshiping. Our passage calls for a true Christian to put a check on reviling speech or his religion is vain (verse 26). Secondly, he tells us: Pure religion and undefiled . . . is to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction (Gr. thlipsis - trouble or burden, distress) (verse 27). This ministry involves visitation, assistance in shopping, paying bills, transportation, yard or home maintenance, etc. The third act of true religion called for through James in God's Word is for a Christian to keep himself unspotted by the world (verse 27). If God's people will keep themselves pure and unspotted while at the same time living in society, our congregation will be drawn together in Christ, being doers of the word and not hearers only (verse 22). Our light will shine before man and the Lord will be glorified as we put aside all the demonic values of an unbelieving society and serve Him.
Study God's Word Daily. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. Deuteronomy 4:2 - Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Deuteronomy 12:32 - What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. Revelation 22:19 - And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
The Seven Beatitudes of Revelation. Revelation 1:3 - Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. Revelation 14:13 - Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. Revelation16:15 - Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. Revelation 19:9 - Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. Revelation 20:6 - Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. Revelation 22:7 - Blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. Revelation 22:14 - Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:20 - He that testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Don't Throw Away Confidence - Faith. The author of Hebrews exhorts us, "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul" (Hebrews 10:35-39). Seeing their endurance in the face of much prosecution, he urged them "to not cast away" their "confidence." The Greek for confidence is parresia which indicates boldness. Their (and our) confidence or boldness is centered in Jesus Christ, for without Him, we are nothing and can do nothing. We stand on His promises through our faith. But if we as believers are to "receive the promise", we must have "patience" and wait "yet a little while." We see again the promise that "he that shall come will come, and will not tarry." Verse 38 tells us that this confidence is at the very center of the Christian's experience with Christ: "Now the just shall live by faith." Colossians 2:6 says, "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him." We have come this far by faith and must continue to live in that way. "We are not of them that draw back to perdition" (verse 39). Our security - that of all true believers - is certain! We are "of them that believe to the saving of the soul" (verse 39). As we enter another year, let us live with confidence that the KING IS COMING - and we believe very soon. Wait with patience in faith and the sure assurance that ALL things are under the control of our Heavenly Father. Work, watch, and pray knowing that our boldness is found in God's Word and the Lord Jesus Christ. Be bold, spread the gospel, and glorify the Lord - and do it with peace and confidence that only faith in the Lord Jesus can give.
Pastor's New Address. Brother Bobby and Patsy and the girls are now living at 14410 Adams Lane, Pinehurst, TX 77362. The phone number is the same, but they are waiting on the phone company to move it to the new location.
Can you see the Light? Matthew 5:14-16 - "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Darkness cannot cancel light, but light expels darkness. The closer you are to a light, the brighter it shines, yet if it is covered or hidden, darkness prevails. And though the world be black, even a very small light can be seen to dispel darkness. We as believers are the light of the world. Jesus chose us to be His witnesses, His instruments - beacons of light set on a hill - to expel the evils of sin and darkness, whether in "Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth" (Acts 1:8). You have received the "light" of the gospel and the Lord's salvation. In Matthew 28:18 Jesus says, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." In Acts 1:8 He says, "But ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you." As a born-again believer we have received the "power" to let the whole world see the "light" of God's grace and redemption. It would appear that we have the choice to light a candle and put it under a bushel (ignore or hide it from the world) or put it on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house (all the world). But the Lord tells us that we are to Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Gone is our choice to hide what we are, what Jesus has given us, and what we believe. We are to "light" the entire world with our good works that darkness may be expelled and the Father in heaven glorified. Jesus commands us in John 15:14-16, "Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you." Can you see the light?
Do you want to be bold for our Lord? Want to shake the building? All things are possible, if you only pray! "And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness." Acts 4:31.

The Child in the manger, the Son of God, was not sent "into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved" John 3:17.
The only reason for the season will always be Jesus Christ and him crucified.
Merry Christmas! Isaiah 9:6 - "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be on his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isaiah here calls Him by five names that inspire us with awe, encourage us, thrill us, and fill us with hope and promise as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We have been studying Revelation which shows us there never will be peace on earth until Jesus returns the second time to earth, "and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True." When the war is over, the "child," Jesus Christ, becomes the absolute ruler over this world and all things in it. During this festive time of celebration, let us not forget that gifts and ornaments and regalia and even family do not negate the important spiritual truth that He was born to save the world, not condemn it. Whosoever will can live with the ruler of the Universe for eternity simply by repenting and surrendering to Him in obedience to his will. Won't you receive His free gift of salvation today? It will be the best gift you have ever received. Mark 8:36 asks, "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" Jesus invites you: "And whosoever will, let him take of the water of life freely" (Revelation 22:17).
Sing a New Song. Psalm 149:1 tells us to "Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints" Immediately after the call to what is normally an introduction of a hallelujah psalm, the writer continues with "Sing unto the LORD a new song." To the Israelites the new song may have been an account of deliverance from their captivity. But for the saint of today, the new song the believer sings is one of release from the eternal captivity of the world, of the captivity and penalty of sin. The new song is a song of salvation. As Augustine, a Christian theologian and philosopher in the 4th Century, once said, ". . . Whoso loveth earthly things singeth an old song: let him that desireth to sing a new song love the things of eternity." It pleases the Lord God to receive our new song which results when we grow weary of the ways of life and this world and proclaim to Him, "Lord, I'm sorry for what I've been. I surrender myself to you." The Lord will then "beautify the meek with salvation" (verse 4) for having acknowledged that they are without resources apart from the Lord. As you turn from that who is all, Jesus Christ. We can sing the new song of praise for His salvation freely given, not by any merit of our own, but by grace of a loving Father and God. Although we as Christians cannot literally claim the promises of verses 8-9, a prophecy can be seen therein. The Old Testament prophets foretold of the glorious conquests of the heathen world by the gospel. We will win these conquests by the power of Jesus - not by a sword of steel but by the sword of the Word of God. These conquests ultimately come when the living Word of God returns to earth to establish his one-thousand-year reign from Jerusalem. At that time He will come "to execute vengeance . . . to bind their kings" and to bring "honor" to "all his saints" (verses 7-9) (Reference Revelation 19:11-21), and both the Old Testament and New Testament saints can join together to say, "Praise ye the Lord" (verse 9). While the Old Testament saints were armed with the sword, we as believers are armed with the "sword of the Spirit" for spiritual warfare against the powers arraigned against God's kingdom (2 Corinthians 6:7). Our job is to proclaim the gospel to the entire world, so that they too may sing a new song of salvation, thus glorifying God.

Shoebox Ministry October 24 Sunday-November 14 Sunday
We want to do a shoebox ministry for children in Cambodia. A shoebox ministry works like this: an individual, a group or a family can prepare a shoebox, or can donate money or supplies to fill a shoebox. We get a shoebox and giftwrap the box and lid separately, and before we put ANYTHING in the box, we say a prayer that the child who receives the box will also receive Jesus as their Savior. We fill the boxes with goodies for the kids, some of whom have never had a present before! Our missionary will add some tracts and a New Testament in the child's native language, and he will even cover the shipping costs for us!
TOYS
Cars, balls, dolls, mini instruments, etch a sketches, noise makers, light up toys, slinkies, wind up toys that don't need batteries, small stuffed animals, etc.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Many of these can be acquired at the dollar store.
Writing utensils (decorated pencils are great) stamp and inkpad sets, pencil sharpeners, erasers, writing pads, notebooks, sketchbooks, paper, coloring books and crayons, solar calculators, picture books, stickers.
HYGENE ITEMS
Tooth brushes, toothpaste, dental floss, bar soap in plastic bags, combs, hair brushes, ponytails, clips, barrettes, washcloths, hair accessories, etc. Please no liquids or creams.
OTHER ITEMS
Packs of gum. They have different tastes than we do and mostly do not like our hard candies, but they LOVE gum! Gum needs to be double bagged. T-shirts, socks, underwear, ball caps, sunglasses, toy jewelry, watches, windup flashlights, balloons, ribbons for hair, etc. Lots of goodies are available on the party aisles and party supply stores. Get creative!
PERSONAL NOTES/PICTURES
You may include a personal note or picture to the child and if you include your address, you may get a letter back.
PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE:
No used or damaged items, war related items, such as guns, knives, or military action figures carrying to more kids, the better.. No chocolate, liquids, or lotions, no medications, no breakable items or aerosol cans.
Please do not close the box and wrap it as they will need to be accessible to put the tract and New Testament in.
Our focus is on the kids who are 8-14 years old. They are the most literate and able to receive and share the gospel message with their entire family. Most of these children will also share with the younger children in their families as well. What we would consider too babyish for an 8-14 year old, would be perfect in Cambodia since they have none of these items. Dollar store stuff is fine, because the more boxes we can distribute the better. Please remember that batteries are hard to find so windup and solar or just plain motion toys are great. Anything educational is good too.
Please start bringing boxes or items for the boxes as soon as you can. You may place donations in the cry room.
Are you guessing? There is no uncertainty with God. He has revealed in so many ways what men may be confident that He has promised - both to believers and unbelievers. To unbelievers there is assurance of hell which will be cast into the lake of fire forever and ever. God has given us His inerrant, inspired Word that we may know exactly the things needed for a sinner to be forgiven and reconciled to Him - the blood of Jesus Christ. John says in 1 John 5:13-20 that he has written his epistle unto believers that they may "know" they have eternal life (v.13). This eternal life is with Jesus, ruling and reigning with Him in a glorious heavenly city in the presence of the glory of God (Revelation 21:9-22:5). If we "know" that we have surrendered our life to Jesus, there never needs to be any doubt, question, or guessing about our salvation. Believers can know that when we ask "according to his will, he hearth us:" and that "we have the petitions that we desired of him" (vs.14-15). The passage also says that true believers can: 1. "know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but . . . keepeth himself, and the wicked one toucheth him not" (v.18); 2. "know what we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness" (v.19); 3. "know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding," that we may "know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ" (v.20). And know that 4. "This is the true God and eternal life" (v.20). God's Word tells us that He sent His Son into the world "not . . . to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God" (John 3:17-18). If you have never believed in Jesus and given your life to Him, the devil is satisfied and will never tell you that you are lost. If you have surrendered to Jesus and are a true believer, allow me to say that it is time you quit doubting God, believe His Holy Word, and let your life glorify Him as you rejoice in what He has promised. No need to guess. Stand firmly on Romans 10:9: "That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." If you haven't given your being to Him, do it today, surrender right now. Now glorify Him who reigns.
Where Do You Stand Before God? Ever feel you are unworthy before the Lord? What is our standing before Him, say compared to Billy Graham or one of the other great saints. It is important to know that any position is solely and only because of the work of Christ on the cross. The very moment we receive Christ by faith, we are perfect and "complete in him" (Colossians 2:10). We receive the Holy Spirit, "your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost" (1 Corinthians 6:19), and all those things freely given to every true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ: "power to become the sons of God" (John 1:12); "are born of God" (1 John 5:1); "heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ " (Romans 8:17); "in whom we have obtained an inheritance" (Ephesians 1:11); "are kept by the power of God through faith" (1 Peter 1:5); "have eternal life" (John 3:16); are blessed "with all spiritual blessings" (Ephesians 1:3); and that "after you believed, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise" (Ephesians 1:13). Also, see Romans 8:17, Ephesians 5:30, 1 John 3:2, Revelation 1:5-6, Romans 5:1-2, 1 John 5:13, 1 Corinthians 5:13, Ephesians 1:6, Ephesians 2:4-6, and Ephesians 2:13. When you believe, you become part of "a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation" (1 Peter 2:9). The instant one believes, all of these and more are received as a gift of God, through Jesus Christ, to our faith and thus to all believers equally. We are instantly clothed with the "righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference" (Romans 3:22). Not one thing of the above is achieved by an individual's diligence in serving, or prayer, or giving, or going to church, or by self-denial, or holy living or any other act of good works. Ephesians 2:8-10 tells us, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, says which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." 1 Samual 2:8 says about God that, "He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes." The unworthy "beggar" who truly believes is set among "a royal priesthood" with princes and exhorted to be princely. You, I, Billy Graham or any other believers all share equally in that standing given to us by God through Jesus Christ.
Thanksgiving. As we observe another Thanksgiving Day, be mindful of others - all others - remembering that our Lord is interested in winning "whosoever will" into His kingdom. It is easy to shun those less fortunate, needful, of other races or beliefs, etcetera. Christian love is only possible when we have the mind of Christ and seek out our Brothers, those we can help lead to him, and/or those who may need some form of assistance, either spiritual or physical. This is a time when families gather for meals, for fellowship and worship, thanking our God for all of His blessings. Last week I asked the question, "Where Do You Stand Before God?" As believers, we are loved and blessed mightily of Him. Remember, as a true believer, to thank Him that you can say, "I am a child of God. I am Christ's friend. I am chosen and appointed by my Lord. I am an heir of God. I am a saint. I am God's workmanship. I am chosen by God, holy and dearly beloved. I am a member of a choosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation; and I am what I am by the grace of God." Now, humbly thank and praise the Lord!!!
Is the Second Coming of Christ Important to You? Only a true believer can say, "Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus" (Revelation 22:20); the unregenerate hearts of unbelievers and scoffers continue to say: "Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation" (2 Peter 3:4). God's Inspired Word is replete throughout with the promise the King is coming. There are clear references in the OT that He will come a second time. This truth is heralded in the NT more than 300 times. Entire chapters and some books are practically given to this subject. F.E. Howitt writes, "You read there (NT) far more about it than you do about faith; . . . about the blood of Jesus Christ . . . about even the great doctrine of love." The return of Jesus is key to all scripture. How do we understand that salvation is past, present, and future if He does not fulfill the promise of His coming in the future? He is Prophet, Priest and King, but how do we understand His kingly office unless we believe the truth of His second coming? There are many various beliefs, but God's Word tells us that He is going to return as He promised In John 14:3: ". . . I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." His return will have two phases. He will come in the air to receive all that have believed on Him as saviour - whosoever they me be. This is commonly called the "Rapture." Seven years later He will return literally and physically to earth as "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS," leading a glorious throng "and out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword . . . (to) smite the nations." and win the Battle of Armageddon with God's Word. He will then accomplish all that is necessary to establish His earthly kingdom for 1000 years before final judgments and we receive a new heavens and a new earth. Why should you care? For centuries, from the time of the Garden of Eden, men have rebelled against God, sought to have man's own desires and ways. God in His love and patience has sought to reconcile man to Himself. After the Rapture, God's wrath, that of a just and fair and loving God, will be poured out on those who have refused to enter into a relationship with His Son whom He sent to earth to die for your and my sins - to provide the only way back to Him. Do you care that He's coming back for YOU only if you surrender to Him. If you haven't, do it today before it's too late! Trust Him right this minute. He could come today!! Is that important to you?

Christ Conquers the Armies. God's Word in Revelation 19:11-16 relates the "Glorious Appearing" of Jesus back to earth. In these verses we see the redeemed saints of God in a heavenly procession with the King of kings. This is the Church, His Bride, dressed in white which was received at the mariage supper. Jesus comes to make war on Satan, the Antichrist, the False Prophet, and the kings of the earth. He rides on a white horse and has "many crowns" on His head. The saints are only observers and attendants to Christ, who wages and wins the war at Armageddon by Himself. Verse 15 tells us that, "Out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of almighty God." If Christ could speak this world into being with the power of His Word, the armies of Satan are no match for Him. No tanks, no rockets, no planes - He conquers the world with His Word, proving He is God. We all have been given kingdom authority to use the power of His Word to conquer this world with all its sinful nature. Are you using the power of the Word to defeat our enemy? Study it! Commit it to memory! Above all, put it to daily use!!!
Want to shake the place? Sadducees were members of a Jewish faction that opposed Jesus during His ministry on earth, not believing in the resurrection of the dead or the immortality of the soul, since the Law of Moses did not mention this doctrine. The Sadducees also didn't believe in rewards or punishments handed out after death, as in the doctrines of heaven and hell. Acts 23:8 tells us they believed, "there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit." And they also believed in free will - man is responsible for his own prosperity or misfortune. Sadducees interpreted the law literally tending to support strict justice as opposed to mercy for an offender. Failure to study God's Word or live by His ways has created many "present-day" Sadducees. Careful reading and interpretation of the Bible will lead only to the truth of doctrines as taught by the Lord. After being released by the Sadducees who "commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus" (Acts 4:18), Peter and John replied that "...we cannot but speak the things we have heard and seen" (Acts 4:20). The apostles then sought courage from God in prayer "and when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness" (Acts 4:31). You too can shake the place - use prayer, the Word of God, power given through the Holy Spirit and your kingdom authority - be bold: live and proclaim Jesus.
What do you want? Jesus was predicting His death and resurrection, "teaching the disciples that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. But . . . he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not (don't want) the things that be of God, but the things that be of men." (Mark 8:31-33). It is well to consider the things we want. By "wanting" we must consider our own pleasures, possessions, and desires. Having "things," enjoying sports, fishing, hunting, etc., and desiring nicer or other things are not wrong in themselves. But when placed ahead of any spiritual matter, they can become sin. Peter was "well-intentioned" in his rebuke, but failed to consider the spiritual truth of Jesus in stating He was going to die. Where are your desires - the things of God or the things of the world? Constant prayer and Bible study and submission to the leading of the Holy Spirit will guide in God's will for you in all you do or want, if you trust and submit to their leading. God's Word is absolutely true and without any error. Trust it. As Peter was to find out, there is a blessing if we only believe and follow - Christ was to die, but through that shedding of His blood, men were given a way of reconciliation with God.
The Antichrist. The Bible prophecies that in the Last Days there will come a world leader who will negotiate a peace treaty with Israel. The spirit of the Antichrist is already at work in the world: 1 John 4:3 - "And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world." Revelation 12-13 reveals that Satan is the real power behind the Antichrist. There will be only one Antichrist who will fit all the Bible factors for his being: 1) Rises to power in Last Days (Daniel 8:19-23); 2) Comes on scene only after rapture (2 Thessalonians 2:3-8); 3) Rules entire world (Revelation 13:7); 4) Rules by international consent (Revelation 17:12-13); 5) Rules by deception (Daniel 8:24-25); 6) Will be intelligent and persuasive (Daniel 7:20); 7) Controls global economy (Revelation 13:16-17); 8) Assisted by False Prophet (Revelation 13:11-18); 9) Makes and breaks peace treaty with Israel (Daniel 9:26-27); 10) Will claim to be God (2 Thessalonians 2:4). The Antichrist will be the most remarkable human leader the world has ever known. He will be the personification of human genius and power and a master of deception, empowered by the "father of lies" (Daniel 11:21). Despite his promises of world peace, inevitable he will plunge the world into the most catastrophic war of all time, the Battle of Armageddon. Today, beware of all who deny that Jesus is God.
The Heart of the Matter. Though there are many views, God's Word teaches only one subject at the heart of its sixty-six chapters: Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God (John 1:1-5). Men are concerned with many things, such as drinking, smoking, cussing, and general moral and criminal activities. Yet the emphasis of God's Word is the heart. Mark 7:6-8 says, "This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do." Matthew 12:35 says that "a good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things and and evil man . . . evil things." God looks on the heart. 1 Peter 1:22 tells us to "love one another with a pure heart fervently." Hebrews 10:22 urges us to "draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water." 2 Timothy 2:22 says to "Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart." Hebrews 4:12 warns us " . . . the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword . . . and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Matthew 5:8 says, "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God." God is looking at our hearts. Jesus says in Matthew 15:8, "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoreth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me." What would Jesus find if He should visit us today? Is our heart faithful to Him and soft to everyone as Brother Bobby has preached?

Above All These Things. God's Word, the Bible, tells us that "above all these things," we are to "put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness," "let peace rule in your heart, to the which ye are also called in one body," "be ye thankful," "let the peace of God dwell in you richly in all wisdom," be "singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord," "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him." Colossians 3:14-17).
We are to be charitable, peaceful, thankful, wise, and praising the Lord Jesus in ALL we say of do. You do understand the meaning of "all," don't you? What this passage tells us is that whatsoever we may do, whatever we may be, we are to be like the Lord Jesus.
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; ...if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. Colossians 3:12-14
Work day at church. Everyone that can help is asked to meet with Brother John Thornhill and others to clean and do some repairs and other maintenance needed by the church.

You may see Lisa or Penny for more information or to assist.
Annual Bar-B-Que cook-off. Get your teams together, clean your grills, and prepare for all the fun again this year. We will have the usual categories and prizes again this year. Cooking and "42" on Friday night. See Ron for further information. We will have judging on Saturday morning followed by a meal together at 12 noon for the church and the public. Ladies are requested to bring desserts and drinks. Cost for the meal will be a donation to the Men's Fund which is used to buy various things for the church, for benevolence, etcetera.
Can You See? Matthew 20:29-34 relates how Jesus healed two blind men "sitting by the way side," who shouted as He passed by to get his attention. When Jesus asked, "What will ye that I shall do unto you," their reply was, "Lord, that our eyes might be opened." Multiple millions suffer today from a far greater blindness than these two, scarcely giving a thought to their spiritual blindness which is a terrible, profound, inherited disability. The only salvation from that curse inherited from Adam is "being justified freely by his (God's) grace through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ" (Romans 3:24), who is "the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world" (Revelation 13:9). Don't let Jesus pass you by and fail to call out to Him, "God, be merciful to me a sinner" (Luke 18:13). Ask Him to open your spiritual eyes; confess you sins, and surrender to Him and be saved. He will freely forgive all your sins - past, present and future - and you will become a child of God, living with Him eternally in heaven. It says in verse 34, "So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him." Now you know how. Repent, call out, and immediately be healed by Him. Now follow Him!

I'll Be There!! Where?? At the Revival Meeting, of Course! Revival meetings start today through Wednesday night. Brother Malcom Ellis and Brother Gary Newman will be here to lead us in our worship and music services as we celebrate what a great and awesome God we serve - but they can't bring revival with them. This is the third time I've used this introduction. My heart's sincere desire is that YOU will be present at all our meetings, prayed up, and prepared to have your heart regenerated by God's Holy Spirit. How long has it been since you set aside time each day to pray to our Father and prepare for the blessings that can come only through the refreshment and regeneration from above? How long has it been since you laid aside everything and made time to attend all of the revival meetings? As one advertisement on TV says, "Well, that's too long!"
God, who looks only at the sincerity in our hearts, wants us to come to Him with unconfessed sin, if any. As Christians, we must rid our lives of those things that are displeasing to Him. God wants to bless us and use us in His kingdom, but we must surrender ourselves to Him if we are to reap these rewards. Too busy? Too tired? You can receive the absolute assurance of blessing as you listen to the gospel as proclaimed by one of the greatest expositors among the Lord's servants. How long has it been since you joined the congregational chorus while Brother Gary leads us in praising King Jesus in the hymns we all love to sing? Can't sing? Open your heart and let its joy be heard. Psalm 100:1-2 says: "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before his presence with singing." Don't be too long!!! The King is Coming. Be watching and praying.
Women on Mission. Lisa Willmore has started a group called "Women on Mission". Next meeting to be advised. For further information contact Lisa @ 281-259-8698 or jgwillmore at hotmail dot com. All ladies urged to take part in this mission group and pray for them.
Who Are the "Women on Mission" So who is Women on Missions for? The soccer moms? The choir members? The Sunday School Teachers? The "blue hairs"? The answer is . . . all of the above! Read on about this dynamic catalyst for missions involvement and learning.
Women on Mission is a missions organization for women through which women pray for and give to missions, do missions, learn about missions, grow spiritually toward a mission lifestyle, and participate in the work of the church and the denomination. The purpose of all Women on Mission activities is that every person have the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel.
Women on Mission is an organization within the Woman's Missionary Union, or WMU. WMU is the overarching, coed missions for all age levels, from preschool to adult. For more
information about "What is WMU", go to the Internet: http://www.wmu.com/index.php?g=content/about-wmu ... or attend the next meeting above.
You and I believe the Bible! It tells us to love God with all our heart and to love others. Is it possible that this would cure our nation's problems? Yes! We need to repent and confess our lack of obedience to these very simple commands from our God who loved us enough to die for us that we might have eternal life in heaven with Him. Death launches us into eternity. Will you spend it with Him or spend it in hell in the burning lake of fire?

As we celebrate our Independence Day today, let us not forget God has blessed us as a Christian nation so long as we have obeyed and worshipped Him. We are reminded that we are to submit, to obey, and pray for our leaders whom He has given us. His Word tells us in 2nd Chronicles 7:14: "If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." He is still - and always will be - in control of all things. Pray for our country, our leaders, and our people - especially the lost. Pray all will heed the calling of the Spirit before the Rapture takes us home. God says, "Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place" (verse 15). Remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in our many wars and those who must suffer the wounds of war for the rest of their lives.
AFTER THE RAPTURE, WHAT? If you have been unable to attend services on Sunday and Wednesday nights, you have been missing a very spiritual blessing as we are led in a study of Revelation by our Pastor Brother Bobby. Did you ever wonder what was in this book? Come and join us as we study what happens after the Rapture as God looses His wrath on a wicked world. Our LORD is not just a God of love, but one of justice and judgement - a judgement untainted by any untruth or injustice. Thrill as we see Him bring about those things necessary to bring Israel into the arms of grace and rid the universe of all sin and injustice. This study will answer all those quesitons you may have wondered about.
Revival Meetings Start in Two Weeks! Brothers Malcom Ellis and Gary Newman will be here to lead us in our worship and music services as we celebrate what a great and awesome God we serve - but they can't bring revival with them. As Christians we must rid our hearts of all wickedness and sloth, repent, and ask forgivness from Him who looks only at our hearts. Let us join the voices of those whom John saw in heaven: "many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders ... saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever (Revelation 5:11-13.) Give God the glory, repent and pray. Bring the spirit of gladness before the throne. Our God is more than good to us - He is our everything. Praise Him, ye people! We will be revived!! "Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright" (Psalms 33:1.)
How Long Has It Been? Revival Meetings start next Sunday. Brothers Malcom Ellis and Gary Newman will be here to lead us in our worship and music services as we celebrate what a great and awesome God we serve - but they can't bring the revival with them. How long has it been since you set aside time each day to pray to our Father and prepare for the blessings that can come only through the refreshment and regeneration from above? How long has it been since you laid aside everything and made time to attend all of the revival meetings? As Christians, we must rid our hearts of all wickedness and sloth, repent, and ask forgiveness from Him who looks only at our hearts. God wants to bless us and use us in His kingdom, but we must make ourselves available to Him if we are to reap these rewards. Too busy? Too tired? You can receive the absolute assurance of blessing as you listen to the gospel as proclaimed by one of the greatest expositors among the Lord's servants. How long has it been since you joined the congregational chorus while Brother Gary leads us in praising King Jesus in the hymns we all love to sing? Can't sing? Not All Will Be Saved. Not every person will be saved. But this is the result of a decision by each individual person in accepting or rejecting the leading of the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who convinces man of sin. In the scriptures we read over and over again that God pleads for man to make a choice - and simply doing nothing is a negative decision on the part of a person. The very moment man admits to his sin, he is endued with the ability to grasp in faith the offer of salvation through Jesus Christ the Lord. There is an assumption taught by some that God's intention is to save only a few persons - this is a lie from the father of lies, a cunning device of the devil, and stands in clear opposition to the teachings of the Bible. In John 16:8 Jesus proclaimed, "And when he [Holy Spirit] is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment." 1st Timothy 2:3-4: "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour: Who will have all men to be saved, and to come into the knowledge of truth." Scriptures plainly teach that all men are invited to come. Jesus used the word "whosoever" some 80 times. It was used by Peter, Paul, John, and James in the New Testament about 30 times. Can you see that "all men," "whosoever," and similar words describe me and you? God strongly hungers that ALL of His creation should come to Him. Sadly, some will decide to reject the leading of the Spirit and predestine themselves to hell. God says, "Whosoever will may come." I've made my decision. What is yours?
Worried about your situation - the local situation - the national situation - the world situation? Worried about some personal relationship - or your housing - or finances - or - - - well, what are you anxious about? Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Are you a Christian? Read what the Lord says to believers in John 14:1: "Let not your heart be troubled [anxious]: ye believe in God, believe, in me." He promised to "go and prepare a place for you." He left with a promise to "come again and receive you unto myself [Jesus]; that where I am, there ye may be also." Read the book. WE are the church of God. WE win! The rapture could come at any time. If you are prepared, have faith in Him! He is still on the throne. Trust Him and lay all your troubles of Him.

Tomball night is 2009-08-07 Fri. starting at 5pm. The location is most likely Main street (2920) & Pine in Tomball beside the law offices like last year. We will have a float in the parade & will be passing out ice cold bottles of water (1300 last year) and gospel tracts with our church information on them. We need everyone to help out. You may donate towards the water and tracts starting now. Begin praying now that the Lord will use this event for His glory!
Pray about it. As we survey the world situation, we can clearly see that the world is in a mess. The global realities are perhaps the most frightening that will occur in our lifetimes. Godless men under the leadership of that old liar the devil are again challenging the clear intent of our Lord. Even our own leaders are attempting to get us to "fit in" with the world. We are being urged to dilute and reduce our Christian rhetoric. They tell us to moderate Islamic extremists by telling them "we're not so different after all." The Lord tells us in 2 Corinthians 6:17 "to come out from among them and be ye separate." God is still in charge - and always will be - He tells His people to teach others about His law, including the "stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they might learn, and fear the Lord your God" (Deuteronomy 31:12.) Christianity is being blamed for the world problems, but Christ is the answer to all problems. Preach and live the gospel - faithfully fulfill the Great Commission! As children of God, we will survive, no matter the "mess." Be watching and praying -- King Jesus is coming -- It might well be today!!

As a WW2 veteran of the Navy, I was thinking yesterday on Independence
Day about world-wide conditions and how God has blessed our country,
which is like our individual self - if we are truly His child serving
Him, He has promised us good, blessed things we are unable to describe.
But He has clearly described for us in the Bible the fate of the nation
that turns its back on Him. Flee to Him and escape His wrath. Oh, God,
that your people "shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek" your
face. Forgive us and use us for your glory. Bless thy Holy name!! (2
Chronicles 7:14). Amen! --Brother Charlie
